How counselling helps
Life can be hard, I guess we all need a little help from time to time. People find talking to a trained counsellor gives them a space where they will not be judged, can express themselves without fear and be listened to by people that really care. Clients say that they find they can share their deepest issues in an environment where they feel supported
Although trained as a Systemic Therapist I believe strongly that we must be flexible in our approach and be prepared to change to match the client’s needs. So I work very much as a integrative counsellor which means I adapt my approach to suite the client’s needs. I have a strong leaning towards Solution Focused and Person-Centred Therapy. Finding the right approach for an individual can mean positive change can and often does happen fast. By being flexible in my approach to counselling I aim to help you understand the challenges that you find you are facing and makes it possible for me to support you as you travel on your journey toward a happier, healthy future.
People come to counselling for many different reasons. Some say they have been feeling depressed, others are anxious, some people say they have been feeling stressed with work. Maybe loosing a loved one has left you grieving or maybe you're having difficulties in your relationships. Others, may be feeling that they are stuck in their life at the moment and are just looking to get support and understanding while getting things moving in the direction they choose. Many of us struggle in our lives finding the correct balance between these choices. This can sometimes lead to us suffering pain, resulting in frustration, unhealthy patterns forming causing us to feel lonely, deserted and possibly even resulting in us turning to addictions. Does making the change feel hard? It can sometimes feel unsurmountable but it's usually easier with support.
